Another flash game that fascinated me – despite thah I don’t like flash games too much. Probably I would miss it but I had too see what is under this name.
It has simple graphics, that is hidding unusual idea. In short it’s arcade, where you are moving character carrying light. You can only step lightened elements of levels. If something is in the shadow, you can jump through it or fall down. Simply – you can “modify” level by lightening it.

2009/2010

Huh, I promised myself to update this tiny blog more frequently… And I’ve failed.

But, there are several things that I want to write about last year;) It was quite “fruitful” – I got married, bought house, crashed my lovely Nissan Primera and lost more lovely hamster. At the end of 2009 my employer announced liquidation of my division, so I’m looking for a new job after 31st march 2010. And I’m waiting for child:)

In gamedev it was poor year, nothing special to show.
We cancelled an old, demotivating projects and started something new in january. It goest quite good, I think I’ll show something soon. Now I can only tell that it will be small and simple space shooter.

In dev: “Oozi: Earth Adventure”

I’ve found something interesting today:)
Oozi: Earth Adventure” – as the authors wrote – want to “deliver a good classic 2D – a game similar in a form to: Super Frog, Rayman, Earthworm Jim”. I liked these games so much – I hope they will do their best. Screenshots are promising;) Take a look at their devlog;)

Post I.T. Shooter by Kloonigames

As I wrote few days ago – Petri released new game named “Post I.T.Shooter“.
He wrote it was his first contribution to the Experimental Gameplay Project.
Since I’ve discovered Kloonigames website – I know, that every game released by Petri is at least good – this one too;)

Post I.T. Shooters’ gameplay is very simple – it’s in “Space Invaders” style, but there’s only you and one enemy (at least to level 9;).
But – the best “experimental” thing in this game is the way it has been made. There are no pixels presenting you or enemy – there are “post-it” cards in different colors spread over the screen. This gives unique feel, I cannot stop watching it. Plus – there’s awesome (perfectly suited for this game) tune by Martinibomb.

Hamsters everywhere – Hamsterball

Few weeks ago, after 2 months of sickness, my 5th hamster went away. Her name was Mańka (probably in english I should write “its name was”, but I don’t). She was kewlest hamster ever.

As you surely thought I like hamsters. Did you noticed that there are few good games with them?
Today I’ll write about my favourite: Hamsterball.

Hamsterball is kind of toy for hamsters – good for animal is that it can run over whole house, good for you is that it can’t bite through wires, clothing, doors and furniture;)

In this game you’re steering hamster closed in hamsterball over various levels, avoiding different obstacles and traps. I like it very much – it’s funny and nice-looking. It has multiplayer feature too, but I didn’t tested it;)

It’s quiet here…

Shit, over 2 months from last post… Maybe I’m to lazy to write a blog?… I hope we’ll see soon.
P.S. Did I wrote that I’m getting married at 29th this month?:)

(And I didn’t even noticed, that Petri released new prod… I must check it, looks very interesting;)

Rapid Prototyping Framework from 2D Boy

Yep, they released Rapid Prototyping Framework – as they say “Providing all the basic facilities so as to avoid wasting time reinventing the wheel (2D rendering, sound, input, persistence layer, and resource management)”. You can read their post and more information here.

Unfinished but playable – “To Be Like Bruce Willis”

Or “Być Jak Brus Łilis” in my language;) I started this little game more than half year ago as I was writing little SDL and OpenGL based framework (codename rm*). For now it is frozen, since we get back to ColdWar. But I think we will use it soon for next prod. Ogre3D is nice, but sometimes too heavy for really little games;)

You can download “Bruce” here BJBL (34) - 3.04 MB. Controls are RMB and LMB. Shoot as many asteroids as you can and gather points for it. Look out for satellites – don’t shoot them or you get negative points.

Of course this note doesn’t mean, that we gave up with ColdWar. We wanted to release beta version until end of this month, but it’s possible we’ll do it week later…

ColdWar – Tech Release 2

Hi! I was quiet for long time because of tons of work (this normal, in real-life;)
Since last post we reached next release of our prod. You can check details at our devlog. You can see there console and new skins:)

ColdWar – Tech Release 1

Today I got something own to show you;) We’re doing with my friend visual interface for GNU Chess.

We’re using VC++ 2008 Express and  Ogre3D.

We have communication with chess engine, ability to move figures and few other things. In next step we want to add sound, layout choice and different aspect ratio handling (4:3, 16:10, 16:9).

In future we will upgrade our devlog to be bilingual, so you will be able to follow this project there.
